There was a little mermaid, who loved the prince so, that she went to the sea witch.
The sea witch gave her the ability to go on land, to breath the air and walk the earth.
The little mermaid could not speak - but she enjoyed every moment with the prince.
She knew though, that the prince did not love her as she wished, and it pained her so.
One day a boat arrived, and with it a woman the little mermaid did not know.
The prince saw this woman, the woman he did love, and asked her to marry him.
The woman said yes, and the little mermaid was heartbroken.
That night the mermaid remembered a warning the sea witch told her.
"If he marries another woman, you can never come home, you'll dissolve into the air!"
She went to the ocean, ready to become part of it again, only to see her sisters.
"If you take this knife from the sea witch and kill the prince, you can return to us! You can come home!"
The little mermaid took the knife and went back to the castle.
She slipped into the Prince's room, was prepared to kill him...
Only...
As she looked down upon him she knew she could not do it.
The little mermaid loved him so much that she would rather dissolve into the air, then take his life.
That morning when the sun rose, the little mermaid started to fade into the air.
Moved by her kindness, the air faeries took pity on the littler mermaid.
They turned her into one of them, so that she could forever watch over the prince.
